Christmas Song by Celine Dion

I am not a big Celine Dion fan. Most of her songs are very soothing and soft numbers. While surfing the net, I found the Celine Dion singing the famous Christmas song "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire". It is classic song originally sang by Nat King Cole.

Christmas cake recipe

Christmas cake recipesI made the Christmas cake on this weekend. This is the first time that I baked a cake in my lifetime. It was not bad even though I was not too good in beating up the mixture or know the small tips that makes a cake fluffy. Anyway, I am giving you the Christmas cake recipe and if you follow it exactly, it must be a yummy cake for this holidays.

Ingredients

250g plain flour, Grated zest of 1 lemon, Grated zest of 1 orange, 1 teaspoon mixed spice, 100g almonds roughly chopped, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 4 eggs, beaten, 250g brown sugar, 250 butter, 200ml brandy, 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 100g red cherries, quartered, 100g finely diced candied peel,
250g sultanas, 250g raisins, 250g currants, Pinch of salt

Preparations

All the fruits, almonds, mixed spices, vanilla and lemon are mixed. After the brandy is mixed with it, it has to be covered with plastic wrap and kept for at least 5 hours so that the fruits can absorb the brandy. Best is to leave it overnight. preheat the oven to warm 160°C. Line the base and sides of the tin with buttered baking paper, which should be 2.5cm taller than the side of the tin. Wrap a strip of brown paper around the tin and tie with a string. The sugar and butter are beaten well until light and creamy. Eggs are added one by one, beating well after each addition. Sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt. The butter mixture is added to the soaked fruits and is stirred until thoroughly combined. put the mixture into cake tin and bake for about 30 mins. Then reduce the heat to 150°C and cook for another 3 hours. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. It is wrapped in a plasitc wrap and should be stored in a cool place overnight before icing. Do the icing as you please.

The Night before Christmas

'Twas the Night Before Christmas and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse
Children in their nightshirts settled in beds
while visions of Pokemon danced in their heads.

You've heard this before, the story's not new,
But I've added a twist, your name's in here, too!
I'm jolly, I'm round and I wear a red suit
I visit your home, in a sled filled with "loot"

And what is this "loot" that I bring in my sled?
simply toys, like dolls and balls that are red.
There are clothes and shoes and candy canes pink,
and then there's some coal, for the bad kids I think!

Some say that I'm Santa, some say I'm a fad,
some folks even say, I look just like your dad.
But one thing's for certain, on this special night
the world stops its churning, and pushing its might.

Smoke stacks are turned off, workers go home,
machines become silent, from Atlanta to Rome.
Up in the sky, late at night there's a glow,
Where a special star twinkled many years ago.

Peace and goodwill fill our hearts from the light,
Mary gave birth to Baby Jesus that night.
Wise men brought gifts, they came from afar,
they found their way there, they followed the star.

The rest of the story is told in a book,
called the Bible, it's great, one day take a look.
Now onward and upward, I'll fly through the night
I'm still the tradition of what's good and what's right

And because you'll get presents, I know Christmas Day
will not be forgotten, as you laugh and play
But remember the reason for peace and great joy,
It comes from our Christ, not just from a toy.

So, go hang your stockings by the chimney with care,
don't worry about me, I'll still be there...
I'll drink up the milk, eat the cookies you leave,
I do it each year, same time Christmas Eve.

My Reindeer are ready, the time is just right,
Go to sleep now Children, Merry Christmas, good night.

Jingle Bells - The Timeless Christmas Song

Christmas Song: Jingle Bells, Jingle bells, Jingle all the way...

You hear this classic Christmas song countless number of times, and still it does not bore you! In fact, you teach your children and grandchildren this Christmas song which was first sung in 1857 in a church in Savannah, GA. James Lord Pierpont (1822-1893) wrote the song for Thanksgiving service but it was so well accepted that it was again sung on Christmas and became the most famous Christmas jingle of all time.
The popularity of the song can be discerned from the fact that it is said to be first song played on space. On December 16,1965, astronauts Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford in the spaceship Gemini 6, played a prank on mission Control saying that they have seen an UFO with a “pilot in red suit”. Then the astronauts played “Jingle Bells” on harmonica along with the sleigh bells as background music.

I found a karaoke of this song in Youtube .

Christmas Decorations

Though I won't be spending Christmas at home, I have been told to make get the Christmas decorations for my family. To be precise, I was ordered (read nagged) by my family to do the necessary decorations before leaving for my vacation.
For me, the only thing that cannot be done away in decorations are the lights. You might not bring the Christmas tree in one year, but you cannot make your home look nice without the beautiful candles or the icicle lights.
Then come the Christmas wreaths. History tells us that the ritual of putting up wreaths in the room or hanging them before the door comes from the Roman culture where decorative wreaths symbolized victory. These are believed to be the symbols of life and mirth against the bitter winter. One can get good decorative piece of artificial wreath at any online-store . As for the Christmas tree, it has not been decided whether this year a real tree will come or the artificial ones as usual.

Christmas tree safety tips

Christmas celebrations are incomplete without having a Christmas tree at your home or at least decorating a Christmas tree before your house.Though most of us nowadays go for artificial Christmas trees which can stay fresh forever, there is nothing like a real Christmas tree being decorated at your home.
If you have any plan to buy a Christmas tree then this is the perfect time. You can get useful tips on purchasing Christmas tree on a friendship blog that I have just visited. Don't miss it.

While decorating an original Christmas tree, certain precautions needs to be taken to keep the tree fresh and avoid any unwanted situations.

  • Always buy a fresh tree. The needles pulled from a fresh fir tree would snap when bent, but the needles of pine and spruces are not easy to pull off from branches and should not break easily.
  • Protect the tree from sun and wind and keep the bottom of the tree under water. Before you put the tree in water, cut an inch from the bottom to make the tree soak water well.
  • On Christmas, one should place the tree away from the fireplaces, radiators and other sources of fire and electricity. The tree should not block any exit.
  • The outdoor lights should be used only outdoors and indoors lights for indoors and are correct voltages. Also make sure that the lights are certified after laboratory test and do not put the cords in the middle of the room.
  • Before leaving the house or going for sleep, put off the lights of the Christmas tree.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher ready for any emergency.
So just be a little careful and have a safe holidays!

Top Five Christmas books

Nowadays, I often hear some parents lamenting that the children has forgotten the habit of reading story books. Of course, Harry Potter series is an exception. My experience tells me that it is a truth that children would love a Halo 3 more than reading a classic by Charles Dickens. Nevertheless, we can make or at least ask them to read. Can't we? If you want your children to read the books that enthralled you in your childhood then why not keep one of the Christmas classic books in their stockings on the night of the Christmas Eve? The classic books, written on the theme of Christmas, are not only for children but everyone from any age group would enjoy reading those classics.
Here is a list of my favorite Top Five Christmas story book ever written.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

This is my all time favorite. I don't know how many times I read it but still I enjoy reading it.
This famous story by Charles Dickens is about the miser Scrooge who does not believe in celebrating Christmas or enjoy company of any relation. The only concern of his life was having money, money and more money. On Christmas eve, the ghost of his former business partner visits him and warns him of the dire consequences that he will face for his miserliness and contempt for everyone. Then Three spirits of Past, Present and Future came to him and forced him to have a vision of Scrooge's past, present and future life. It was an eyeopening lesson for him and he changes into a kind-hearted, generous and cheerful person and embodied the true spirit of Christmas in his life.

Letters from Father Christmas by J.R.R. Tolkien

Let me be honest. I am not a big fan of Tolkien but I loved this book. This book is about the letters of Father Christmas describing the life and people in North Pole.

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg

This is book written in 1985 and won the Caldecott Medal for best illustrations. It is story of a young boy, who, while waiting for Santa's sleigh on the night of Christmas Eve, actually takes a trip to North Pole along with other children. Santa gives him a bell but the boy lost it. In the morning, the boy and his sister finds the bell wrapped as a gift under the Christmas tree of their house. While both the children can hear its beautiful chimes, their parents could not do so and thought it to be broken. However, most of the friends of the siblings can hear the sound of the bell. But with years, it fell silent for all of them except the man who got it in his childhood.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss

This is one of the most famous children's story on Christmas and Grinch is probably the most popular villain in the Christmas stories. This book, written in rhymed verse, along with the illustrations, is about the bitter creature Grinch living in a cave. Being envious of the mirth and joy of the warm -hearted Whos of Whoville during Christmas, Grinch decided to spoil their Christmas festivity. He stole all the presents and decorations to"prevent Christmas from coming" but still found Christmas has come. He realizes that Christmas is something beyond gifts and decorations and it is to be celebrated with love, joy and harmony. The heart of Grinch enlarged and after returning the gifts to the Whos, he was warmly welcomed to the their community.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson

This Barbara Robinson book is a hilarious tale of the chaos and craziness that happened when Grace Bradley, the protagonist of the story, tried to stage a Christmas Pageant with the misbehaved Herdman kids. It was through this play that the kids learnt the true meaning of Christmas and it was the best pageant ever of their place.

So I have given my reviews of my favorite books on Christmas. If you haven't read any one of these, then during the holidays, why don't you pick one of them and spend a cozy afternoon in the blanket reading it. You will enjoy- it's my guarantee.

Where do you stand with Jesus Christ today ?

Being a Christian is an individual thing -- a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is alive, and wants to know and be known by you. No "religion" can save you, nor can any denomination or church. Only Jesus has the power to save you and give you eternal life.

In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul writes "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

We see here three clear ideas:

1- A public confession
2- Jesus is Lord
3- Believe God raised him from the dead

As recorded in the Bible, listen to what happened when the disciple Thomas encountered Jesus after he had been killed and was risen from the dead. Remember, that Thomas wasn't present the first time Jesus came to visit his disciples after his resurrection, and Thomas did not believe that he was alive based on the testimony of the others:

"A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."

The points are the same:

1- Jesus is physically alive. His body is resurrected. He is alive today, guiding his disciples just as he has always done.

2- Jesus is Thomas' "Lord." We don't use that word very much anymore, but it might be translated as "boss" or "king" or "master." Jesus is the one who tells us what to do, and when to do it. Sort of like the Army. The sergeant tells you where to go, what to wear, when to do everything. Jesus is the "master sergeant" of our lives.

3- Jesus is God. This is part of making Jesus Lord. Thomas said it outright. "My Lord and my God." All the disciples said it. Jesus clearly claimed it. But it is the hardest teaching in the Bible. The Jews heard Jesus say it, and crucified him for it. Most unbelievers will only say that Jesus is a good man or just a prophet, which is the stumbling block which keeps them from salvation. Why? Because Jesus must be God to be a sacrifice for all creation. Unbelievers ultimately don't want to put aside their own egos and admit they are sinners, admit they are weak, admit that they are helpless and lost without Jesus. The power of life is "Christ in us."

4- Because Jesus is Lord and Jesus is God, he hears our prayers and will save you if you ask him. We believe this by faith. The Holy Spirit is a "seal" or sign of that faith, and he provides the wisdom and power we need for daily living.

Hear these words from John 10:25-30 in the Bible:

Jesus said, "The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one."

God bless you. Pray, ask and receive eternal life and the Holy Spirit from Jesus. He's in charge of all things in heaven and on earth.

Until one feels the spirit of Christmas, there is no Christmas. All else is outward display--so much tinsel and decorations. For it isn't the holly, it isn't the snow. It isn't the tree not the firelight's glow. It's the warmth that comes to the hearts of men when the Christmas spirit returns again.

Jesus Christ Birth Story...

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about:

His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us." When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. Wise Men After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.

"
When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written: "'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'" Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him." After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. gifts On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.

Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.
When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." Fleeing to Egypt So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son." When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more." After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child's life are dead." So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."
